DISC Personality Profiling is one of the most popular tools used to assess behaviour and personality traits in the corporate world today.
With its wide range of applications, DISC profiles have become a staple for many organizations when it comes to employee development and team building. DISC has been reportedly taken by over 100 million people around the world.
In Singapore, DISC Personality Profiling has been extremely popular throughout the years as its content and frameworks are easily applicable to the corporate world, and can be easily digested and understood within a half-day DISC Personality Profiling workshop or 1-day DISC Personality Profiling workshop.
Why is DISC Personality Profiling so popular in Singapore? As Singapore opens up its meetings and events industry post-pandemic, we are seeing a resurgence of demand for DISC personality profiling as teams get together for the first time in 3 years.
What is DISC Personality Profiling?
DISC stands for Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Compliance. This system of assessment was developed by psychologist William Moulton Marston in the 1920s and has re-hypothesised and tested ever since.
The DISC assessment is usually a series of questions administered over a test, usually online. Results and a report are generated based on the answers of those questions. It is based on the DISC theory of psychologist William Marston. Marston's theory centers on four different personality traits: Dominance, Inducement, Submission, and Compliance.
Marston was an accomplished man who was not only a lawyer and a psychologist; he also produced the first functional lie detector polygraph, and authored self-help books.
His major contribution to psychology came when he generated the DISC characteristics of emotions and behavior of normal people. Marston, after conducting research on human emotions, published his findings in 1928 in his book titled Emotions of Normal People.
Marston explained his theory that people illustrate their emotions through behavior using the four behavior types called Dominance (D), Inducement (I), Submission (S), and Compliance (C).
